چکیده

The superior mechanical properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) play a significant role in the improvement and thermal stability an epoxy matrix. However, agglomeration (CNTs) is common challenge should be resolved to achieve desired enhancement effect. present paper investigated thermal, mechanical, water uptake nanocomposites with surfactant-modified MWCNTs. were prepared through incorporation different weight concentrations MWCNTs into Comparative analysis neat epoxy/CNT conducted microscopic, tests reveal mechanism. homogenous distribution CNTs was achieved by wrapping surfactant onto CNTs. addition caused obvious increase properties. This mechanism could attributed uniform dispersion matrix reducing free volume between polymer chains restricting chain segmental mobility, leading strong interfacial bonding efficient load transfer capability nanocomposite decreased owing effect when concentration exceeded optimal percentage 1.5%. Additionally, impart reduction wettability surface nanocomposite, contact angle uptake, which improve durability epoxy. Moreover, higher (2%) showed greater agglomeration, may cause formation plenty microcracks microvoids nanocomposite.

Polyamide 6/Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes Nanocomposites with Modified Morphology and Thermal Properties

Pure polyamide 6 (PA6) and polyamide 6/carbon nanotube (PA6/CNT) composite samples with 0.5 weight percent loading of pristine or functionalized CNTs were made using a solution mixing technique. Modification of nanotube surface as a result of chemical functionalization was confirmed through the presence of lattice defects as examined under high-resolution transmission electron microscope and ab...

Mechanical properties of functionalized carbon nanotubes.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) used to reinforce polymer matrix composites are functionalized to form covalent bonds with the polymer in order to enhance the CNT/polymer interfaces. These bonds destroy the perfect atomic structures of a CNT and degrade its mechanical properties. We use atomistic simulations to study the effect of hydrogenization on the mechanical properties of single-wall carbon nanot...

Creep and Dynamic Mechanical Behavior of Natural Fiber/Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes Modified Epoxy Composites

The creep and dynamic mechanical behavior of natural fiber/epoxy composites using functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) modified matrix were investigated. 0.4 wt% of MWCNTs functionalized with carboxylic acid groups (MWCNTs-COOH) were dispersed in epoxy and three-phase multiscale hybrid composites were processed by hot press. Natural fiber/epoxy two-phase composites without MWCNT...
